For smaller stuff that needs a little more flexibility (think flowers, succulents, etc), this 12 Gauge Zinc Wire for Plant Stakes does the trick.
- 12 gauge galvanized wire
- Sold in 3 ft sections
Important Note: As with any galvanized wire, or any zinc containing metal, WEAR PROPER RESPIRATOR/PPE so you don’t get metal fever.
This is a strong, but bendier wire than brass rods. For super duper sturdy (but not very bendable), go with brass rods. For holding a bend for smaller items, go with this.
Why zinc coated (or galvanized) steel instead of copper? Cuz steel is much stronger than copper. We can’t solder to steel with the temperatures/fluxes we use, but we can solder to zinc. Sooooooo this wire has the strength of steel with the solderability of zinc.
